Mellisa Maktuayaq Johnson is an Iñupiaq Alaska Native artist and Nome Eskimo Community member whose work reflects a deep connection to culture, land, and community. Through this workshop, participants will create beaded red dress earrings honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit relatives while learning beadwork skills and the cultural importance of raising awareness in our communities. This workshop is supported in part by the Alaska Native Art Foundation and in partnership with the MMIWG2S Alaska Working Group.
