S.O.Summit
Emergencies in Climate, Art, and Society
November 13-14, 2026 (Fri., Sat.) 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Anchorage Museum
The S.O.Summit responds to a present-future time defined by both alarming emergencies and adaptive, emergent possibilities that are actionable. Designed as a convening and laboratory, it brings together artists, scholars, activists, and community organizers working at the intersections of climate, art, and society.
Over the course of two days, invited guests engage with the pressing issue of emergency preparedness amid the accelerating climate crisis and its cascading issues. The summit foregrounds socially engaged art as a site for imagining, rehearsing, and building cooperative models for the common good. It aims to expand on prevailing approaches to emergency preparedness, in which artist-led practices are not recognized as formal contributors.
Over the course of two days, the summit features artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, live performances, gallery tours, and a community fair looking at emergency preparedness through different lenses. All the activities are held in person, with speakers presenting both in person and online to the live audience in the Auditorium.
This initiative builds on the Anchorage Museum’s longstanding place-based work to advance climate-forward action and is generously funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art.
$45 two-day, $30 one-day, free for students and faculty, discounted for members. Students and faculty will need to show their university ID at check-in.
NOTE: This is a two-day event. If you are attending both days, you must purchase a single ticket for each day to receive the discounted $45 price.
